One of the top five contestants on American Idol is using the show as an outlet to spread God's word.

"I was born to share the love of Jesus. Even though I fail every day, I sin, and I’m not perfect… I would never claim or want to be perfect. I know it is so easy to get trapped in what the world wants of you and lose focus of His word because of what the world wants… but I am here to tell you, it is all going to be okay. God loves us & WE need to share more of Him!" said Megan Danielle in a Facebook post.

Megan Danielle first auditioned for the show back in February. She sang Lauren Daigle's song, 'You Say', and was surprised when Lauren showed up and surprised her at the audition. Danielle ended up walking away with a golden ticket.

"I hit the jackpot! I got the golden ticket (and sang with Lauren Daigle?!), and I'm heading to Hollywood! Thanks so much, Katy Perry, Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie!"

Danielle said in an interview on the show that she started performing in bars. That changed one day when her grandfather told her she wasn't where she was supposed to be. From that day on, she vowed to sing only Christian music.

During Hollywood week, Megan performed 'Up to the Mountain' by Patty Griffin, landing her in the top 24.

"Thank y’all from the bottom of my heart! This was one of my most challenging performances, but what a way to honour my papa! Thank you, God!"

Her journey to the top continues, Danielle is officially in the top 5 after her performance on Sunday. She will perform again Monday evening.
