A call to nominate Manitoba's best volunteers has been given by Manitoba's Lieutenant-Governor.

Six Manitobans will win the Lieutenant-Governor's Make a Difference Community Award. One person demonstrating "the best qualities of volunteerism" will win the Vice-Regal Volunteer Award.

“Our province is blessed to be rich with the spirit of volunteerism. Manitobans give so much of their time, talent and creativity to impact and enrich the lives of others, and make a difference in the world around them,” Lt.-Gov. Janice C. Filmon says in a statement.

The award recognizes people who "embody the spirit of volunteerism and have made lasting and meaningful contributions in the community."

Former Lt.-Gov Peter M. Liba created the award in 200 to recognize the strong sense of volunteerism demonstrated in Manitoba and has been awarded each year ever since.

"I encourage you to recognize a worthy volunteer by nominating them for this award,” Lt.-Gov. Janice C. Filmon says.

Deadlines for nominations are in one week.
