TobyMac is releasing a brand new song that he says, "it's not a typical TobyMac song."
The single is called 'I'm Sorry', released on October 2, 2020. It's a confession and "lament" for the evil and injustice Christians have committed in the name of God.
In a video he posted on his Facebook page a few days before the release, TobyMac says, "A lament is a passionate expression of grief or sorrow."
He wrote it over a year ago before many of the challenges surrounding the nation at this point.
"It's a hard listen. It came from a passage I read in the Bible that says 'Godly sorrow leads to repentance' and that's really the heart of the song," says TobyMac.
At the end of the song, the artist speaks the beatitudes first spoken by Jesus found in Matthew 5:3-11.
"Confessing to our God how we have fallen short and asking Him to help us embrace His ways. Not our ways, not my way, but His ways."
