Ron Gross's life was flipped upside down about a year ago when he received devastating news that would change his life moving forward.

"I found out I've got stage four prostate cancer, and I was given five to seven years to live," said Gross.

He decided he could take that news and sit at home and cry or go out and live his life.

While scrolling through Facebook one day, he came across an invite to the Bondslaves Motorcycle Club Bike Blessing at House of the Risen Son Ministries, a church in the North End.

"Something led me to check it out," said Ron. "After cruising around looking for this place, I pulled up to the driveway on Machray Avenue. Little did I know that short drive would change my life forever."

This led him to eventually get baptized, join the church, and become a member of Bondslaves.

On Sunday, June 2, the Bondslaves Motorcycle Club will hold their 2nd Annual Bike Blessing.

"It's a free meal for people in the North End. Anyone can come," Ron explained. "It's a get-together, trying to do something for the community and the biker community."

The BBQ starts at 5 p.m. followed by the bike blessing and a church service at 7 p.m.

House of the Risen Sons Ministries is located at 305 Machray Avenue.
