At the core of humanity is the desire to live a life reconciled with others. Every son wants to be reconciled with their father. Every daughter with their mother. And yet we all experience tough relationships in our lives.

Brian Noble is the executive director of Peacemaker Ministries. He has a huge passion for reconciliation both in relationships and within the church.

“I like to ask myself, How long do I really want a conflict to steal my joy? Do I truly want reconciliation? ” says Brian. “If I do, then I have to decipher how that reconciliation is possible. Reconciliation is possible only because of the gospel, and Jesus tells us to pick up our cross daily and follow him.”

Brian says learning to navigate and mend even our most difficult relationships is an important part of God’s plan for us to walk in the newness of life in Christ.

He recently released a new book, Living Reconciled: 7 Ways to Bring Peace to Your Most Difficult Relationships.

This book is a journey of transformation for our hearts and our relationships with both God and others. Through a careful study of 2 Corinthians 5, Brian challenges readers to take on seven courageous attitudes of reconciliation:

1. You are controlled by Christ’s love.

2. You no longer live for yourself.

3. You recognize no one according to flesh.

4. You see others as brand-new.

5. You have a ministry within the Kingdom.

6. You have stopped counting the sins of others.

7. You are a reconciler.

Brians hopes this book will teach readers how to establish reconciliation in a relationship, independent of how the other person responds.

“[T]he Holy spirit dwells within you and is empowering you to glorify God. You can be the reconciler God has called you to be because of Jesus.”

Today on Connections, Brian shares how we can start our journey to reconciliation.
