Gentil Mis is a local artist, worship leader, and executive director of Status 4, which provides music and arts programs to underserved and at-risk youth in Winnipeg.

Originally from Rwanda, he is now a Canadian who has lived in Winnipeg for seven years. He writes songs in English as well as in other languages he has grown up with, and now has released a new song.

"This song is from Psalm 51:10. It says create in me a clean heart and renew the spirit within me. And the first verse says that I tried to do good but evil is always present, Lord have mercy, have mercy. And if you would have asked me for the sacrifice, I know I couldn't afford it. But the sacrifice that pleases you is a broken heart, and that's what I offer to you." Mis explains, "it's in my mother tongue which is called, it's a long [word], Kinyamulenge, that's long. But it's a dialect of Rwandese and Burundese and so about 4 countries use the same language in East Africa. So Rwanda, Burundi, part of Congo, part of Uganda, and Tanzania they use the same language... so I will just sing the chorus."

Gentil Mis is now working on a new worship album to be released and is preparing to represent Status 4 at the Juno awards in Ottawa. You can find out more about him, and his new song on his website, Facebook page, Instagram, Youtube, Soundcloud, or Vimeo.
