Rainbow Earth Creations offers one day trips for women 40+ to experience the beautiful scenery in Manitoba and to build relationships during the trip.

The small Winnipeg business was created in 2012 when Christie Dawn, the founder, decided to sell her art for a living. Initially, she hosted paint parties and opened her commissions for people to make requests.

Recently, Dawn published her first book titled Merry Me: A Funtastic Guide to Help You Embrace Your Inner Child & Live More Joyfully, which she says is a common theme in her business, experiencing joy.

Her most recent achievement is the new Daytripper program she has added to her business.

"Daytripper is a service, it's basically an adult field trip service for women, mainly 40 plus, but I have taken younger but they definitely have to be 18 plus. We just go to different places throughout the province. We'll go to provincial parks, go to maybe some events, like we did the Gimli Icelandic Festival this summer time, some markets, things like that, just all different kinds of things to do. It is year-round, lots of people think it was just a summertime thing, but it's going to be year-round, obviously, the weather has the final say. But for the most part, I want to get people out all year round, especially in winter, like it's so important to not be cooped up in the house too long."

Dawn says that before the pandemic, she travelled a lot with her mom and go on road trips. Once restrictions lessened, she had the idea to tour her home province, Manitoba which then sparked the idea of inviting other women to visit sites that are either popular or less known.

"I wanted to make it possible for people to get out and just get into nature and meet new people and just have fun."

There is no set schedule for the trips, Dawn plans different times and days so that everyone has a chance to experience Daytrippers as there are some people who work weekends, weekdays, day shifts, night shifts, etc. Some trips will take all day and others will be shorter, there will also be themed trips planned around the dates of annual holidays.

"If they are a lot online they can go to my website which is Rainbowearthcreations.com and the landing page has the Daytripper info right there and from there they can navigate to find more info, all the details, everything they need to know, as well as the trip schedule which I always try to have about a month in advance listed up. That's got the details and the prices and everything like that, everything they need to know and then they can contact me either through phone or e-mail or by messaging me on social media. My phone number is 204-333-0978, especially for the people that aren't online because I have a lot of inquiries where they say no, they don't have a computer. So, if that's the case, I've had people call me and just, you know, I either mail them out of schedule or I just run through it with them over the phone, see if anything piques their interest and then we go from there."
