Two different local restaurants each provided lunch for hundreds of Winnipeg's less fortunate that attend Lighthouse Mission for meals in the past week, at a time when their own businesses are being affected by the most recent restrictions to curb the spread of Covid-19 in Winnipeg.

On Thursday, November 12, Pita Pit at 1615 Regent Avenue West, delivered 300 fresh-made pita's to be handed out at lunch to the hundreds of Winnipeggers that seek the assistance of Lighthouse Mission's meals each day.

Then on Monday, November 16, Santa Lucia Pizza provided 25 pizzas that provided lunch for over 200 people.

"These meals are great treats for the community and help our kitchen out immensely," says Lighthouse Mission Operations Manager, Beverly Ajtay. "And for restaurants to step up and support some of our most vulnerable citizens at a time when their businesses are being affected by Covid, it really means a lot and speaks to their community commitment."
