Crews are rolling throughout the city to clear snow from the roadways after a storm left 15 cm of snow in Winnipeg. Some areas of the province saw 30 cm.

The City of Winnipeg says a major, city-wide snow clearing operation is in progress. Crews are clearing streets, back lanes, sidewalks, and active transportation paths based on the priority system.

Regional streets or major routes and adjacent sidewalks and active transportation paths will be cleared first. Then bus routes, collector streets and adjacent sidewalks and active transportation paths.

Crews are also salting and sanding where needed to improve traction.

Winnipeg Transit says many bus routes were behind schedule as a result of road conditions. It is recommended to use the Navigo app for current transit details.

More snow is expected for Winnipeg Friday morning, before the system pushes east. The sky should begin to clear Friday afternoon.
