Update: Police do not believe the man was murdered in relation to criminal activity and are appealing to the public for information.
Police say they believe the man was not a victim of a robbery or a gang-related crime.
The man was known to feed stray cats in the area and was well-known by residents.

Winnipeg police have begun a homicide investigation after a 57-year-old man succumbed to injuries from a gunshot wound.
On April 15, 2020, at 1:40 p.m., Winnipeg Police responded to a report of an injured male near the intersection of Isabel Street and Ross Avenue.
Officers determined that the male was suffering from a gunshot wound. He was conveyed to hospital in critical condition but succumbed to his injuries.
The victim was a 57-year-old male.
