Winnipeg police are charging a 34-year-old man in relation to a serious crash that killed two pedestrians on May 14, 2019.

At approximately 12:20 a.m. on May 14, an East District Community Support unit discovered a serious crash between a vehicle and two pedestrians at the corner of Panet Road and Regent Avenue West/Nairn Avenue.

Police believe the driver was going westbound on Regent Avenue West, where the two pedestrians were crossing southbound Panet Road.

Officers saw that both pedestrians, a male and female, were suffering from serious injuries and began providing medical support. Both pedestrians were transported to the hospital in critical condition and were pronounced deceased.

A 34-year-old man from Winnipeg is being charged with two counts of Drive Carelessly - Cause Death and Speeding - Cause Death. The man is currently released on an Appearance Notice.
