A man remains in critical condition after being shot early Sunday morning.

The man, who is in his 40s, was shot at Arlington Street and Notre Dame Avenue. Winnipeg Police responded to the scene just before 12:30 a.m. Sunday.

The victim was located by officers and transported to the hospital in unstable condition. His condition has since been downgraded to critical.

Police say two male suspects were arrested in the area and remain in police custody.

No charges have been laid at this time.

The Winnipeg Police Service's major crimes unit is investigating.
