Authorities are seeking information from the public following a Wednesday-night shooting.

On Wednesday night, the Winnipeg Police Service received reports of shots fired in the Wiliam Whyte neighbourhood.

At 8:45 p.m. officers responded to the call, arriving in the 800 block of Aberdeen Avenue.

Once arriving, officers found a severely injured man with injuries from a gunshot wound.

The man was transported to the hospital in critical condition, where police say he remains in grave condition.

The victim is alive as of Thursday morning, but police say the Homicide Unit is now investigating.

"When there is a significant chance that someone may succumb to their injuries, it isn’t uncommon for the Homicide Unit to lead the investigation," Constable Jay Murray says.

Officers are looking for information regarding the shooting and are asking anyone with information contact investigators. Anyone with information is being asked to call 204-986-6508 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477).
