In the early morning hours of Monday a man was found in critical condition after being stabbed and a suspect has since been arrested for attempted murder.

On August 15, 2022, just after 1:00 a.m., Central District General Patrol units responded to an apartment building in the 300 block of Broadway for a report of a male who had been stabbed.

After arriving, officers located a critically injured male in a suite and administered emergency medical care, including chest seals and medical bandages. A firearm was discovered nearby and was seized. The man was transported to a hospital in critical condition and was later upgraded to a stable condition.

A few hours later just before 4:00 a.m., a male suspect was arrested after attending a different hospital with minor injuries. A knife was found in his possession and seized.

Members of the Major Crimes Unit continued with the investigation, and it is believed that the victim and suspect had been known to each other as acquaintances.

A 26-year-old Winnipeg man has been charged with:

- Attempt to Commit Murder
- Careless Storage of Firearm, Weapon, Prohibited Device or Ammunition
- Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
