It is budget day in Manitoba and the government is expected to cut some taxes and offer new money to fight COVID-19.

Finance Minister Scott Fielding says there will be supports for people who have been hurt by the pandemic's effects on the economy.

The government has already said it will follow through on promises to start phasing out the education tax on property and eliminate the provincial sales tax on personal care services.

Fielding says the province is predicting a $1.6 billion deficit.
