Some Manitoba cheese has been hailed as the greatest in the world.

New Bothwell Cheese won top honours at the 2020 World Championship Cheese Contest over the weekend.

The cheese, made in New Bothwell, Manitoba, won first place in the marbled curd cheese category and Best of Class for their marble cheddar.

"It’s official, Bothwell Cheese has held its title of World Champion!" Bothwell Cheese says in an online post celebrating their victory.

The company also took home other prizes for their non-GMO cheeses, including second place for their one to two-year-old Non-GMO Verified 548 White Cheddar and third place for their Non-GMO Project Verified two-year-old White Cheddar.

The contest took place in Madison, Wisconsin last weekend. New Bothwell received a score of 99.5 on their marbled curd cheese, beating 41 other companies for the championship title.
