The Manitoba Government is encouraging Manitobans to embrace the great outdoors this weekend.

This weekend, June 9 through June 11, is Family Fishing Weekend, and Manitobas can enjoy an extra day to cast a line into their favourite lakes for free.

“Summer is almost here, and we know Manitobans treasure these warm, late spring weekends. Throughout this weekend, residents and visitors will be able to fish for free while also enjoying free access to our beautiful provincial parks,” said Natural Resources and Northern Development Minister Greg Nesbitt. “This extra day creates another opportunity for more Manitobans to get hooked on fishing.”

Throughout the weekend, anglers can fish without a licence, except in national parks where a federal licence is still required. All other rules and regulations, including size limits, still apply.

Vehicle permits will also not be required to visit provincial parks from June 9 through June 11. However, regular camping fees will still apply at provincial campgrounds.

Before heading out, park visitors are encouraged to check provincial park conditions, as there may be temporary closures or advisories.
