Manitobans gave donations of an average of $21 per Operation Red Nose ride during the holidays.

ORN coordinator Sharra Hinton's strategy to stay up over 24 hours on New Year's Eve proved to be successful this year. Hinton's drivers made 1,389 trips from November 29 to January 1, with the help of their 664 volunteers. Throughout the duration of the program, people gave a total of $33,342.85, more than one-third of the total donations across the province.

In Manitoba, over 4,443 rides were given from 2,370 volunteers. As a whole, Manitobans gave $95,034.25 to ORN.

"All the money that's raised stay with that organization in that community," said Hinton in an earlier interview.

The donations from Winnipeg will be going to Pan Am Pool's Manta Swim Club.

Hinton says that people they pick up are "happy and very appreciative of the service."

Last year in Manitoba, ORN gave 4,293 rides and raised $92,210.36.
