The old Public Safety Building and Civic Parkade site in Winnipeg's Exchange District is to be a destination for all Winnipeggers, with places to live, work, and play, when its redeveloped.

CentreVenture Development Corporation today released an urban design framework for redevelopment of the site, known as the Market Lands, following public consultation.

Mayor Brian Bowman calls it an exciting day.

"It's not every day in a large city like ours that we get the chance to redefine an entire block of land right in the heart of our city," said Bowman at a press conference for the design framework's release.

The urban design framework includes an outdoor public space surrounded by mixed-use developments, as well as a new pedestrian access way, and better connections to surrounding areas.

The release of the framework today also marks the beginning of a three-day open house for the project set up at Red River College's Princess Street campus.

CentreVenture is now asking businesses, non-profits, and social enterprises if they're interested in potentially occupying space at the Market Lands. A Request for Expression of Interest Document can be found here. The REOI submission deadline is June 1, 2018 at 5:00 p.m.
