Investigators are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying a male who assaulted a girl in the Fort Richmond neighbourhood on March 14. 

The Winnipeg Police Service is issuing a public advisory and the school division has sent out a notification advising the community.

Investigators learned that sometime between approximately 8:30 a.m. and 9:30 a.m., on March 14, a youth female was walking to school eastbound on Greencrest Avenue towards Ulster Street.

An unknown adult male approached from behind and pulled her to the ground. While on the ground, the suspect began dragging her; however, the victim managed to kick herself free, and the suspect fled on foot.

She made it home safely, and police were contacted. The victim did not require medical attention as a result of the assault.

The suspect is described as:

  • a white male in his 20s to 30s 
  • approximately 5’10” to 6’0” in height with an average build
  • wearing a dark hoodie, dark baggy jeans, a black hoodie/sweater and a toque on his head
  • his overall appearance was unkempt and “dirty”; he wore a black Covid mask on his face
