The Winnipeg Police Service says that searchers have located a missing 24-year-old man deceased.

Sami Uzzaman was last seen on January 9 and was reported missing to police on Wednesday, January 20.

At the time of his missing person's report, police said that Uzzaman had last been seen in the Fort Garry area of Winnipeg.

A search was conducted in the Fort Garry area by the Winnipeg Police Service's Ground Search and Rescue (GSAR) team with the assistance of Winnipeg Search and Rescue (WINSAR) volunteers. Members of Winnipeg's Bear Clan Patrol also assisted in search efforts.

"We wish to thank those volunteers for their help and recognize the Bear Clan's efforts throughout the week as well," the WPS says in a release.

Police say that foul play is not believed to be involved.

Ussaman's family has been notified and is requesting privacy at this time.
