Manitoba's new premier has announced the legislature will reconvene on November 23 for a brief fall sitting.

The session will begin with a throne speech laying out her government's agenda.

The announcement comes a day after Heather Stefanson was sworn in as premier after she won the Progressive Conservative leadership last weekend, replacing Brian Pallister.

Stefanson says the government's agenda will be focused on reconciliation, health care, education, the economy and jobs.

“The COVID-19 pandemic has created and exposed new challenges in our healthcare system and our economy, and our team is committed to taking immediate action to address these challenges,” says Stefanson in a release.

“I am truly excited and optimistic about the future of our province and I look forward to unveiling our agenda – focused on reconciliation, health care, education, the economy and jobs – for a healthier and stronger post-pandemic Manitoba.”

The new premier also announced her leadership team on Wednesday, with Jordan Sisson being named her chief of staff.
