The City of Winnipeg is moving the fun indoors this fall.

While services may be limited, Winnipeggers can enjoy more indoor facilities next month.

Beginning Tuesday, September 8, eight facilities will be reopening:

  • Eldon Ross Pool
  • Transcona Indoor Pool
  • Kinsmen Sherbrook Pool
  • Elmwood Kildonans Pool
  • Magnus Eliason Recreation Centre
  • Mayfair Recreation Centre
  • St. John’s Leisure Centre
  • Turtle Island Neighbourhood Centre

The City says public swim, free swim, fitness services, general facility reservation bookings, equipment loans and drop-in programming will be limited. They ask for those wanting to take advantage of the facilities, to book blocks on Thursdays for the week ahead.

Condensed swimming lessons are also on the table for the flipper-friendly. Six pools will offer lessons.

Pools hosting the September 8-28 program include:

  • Pan Am Pool
  • Cindy Klassen Recreation Complex
  • St. James Assiniboia Centennial
  • Elmwood Kildonans Pool
  • Seven Oaks Pool
  • Margaret Grant Pool

Winnipeggers can register for lessons starting on August 31.

Each City facility will be open for two hours at a time, and will close for 30-minute increments in between to clean. Limited locker use and changeroom facilities will be available but the city asks that two-meter distancing be maintained. Lifejackets, flutter boards and toys will be permitted into the facility at the lifeguard's discretion.
