A Winnipeg mother is hoping that thieves will do the right thing, saying, "I am broken again after 28 years, I have lost my baby for the second time."

Bernice Reeves says that on Saturday, February 13, her home on Moore Avenue in Winnipeg was broken into. Among the items taken was a safe that contained items far more valuable to her than money or jewels.

Reeves' daughter, Iliah, passed away 28 years ago, in February of 1993, and inside the safe was her daughter's bonnet, receiving blanket, two photos, her obituary and the coroner's report.

"I felt like I was taken right back to 28 years ago," Reeves says of the experience while choking back tears. "It just took me back so fast. There's an emptiness that you feel when these kinds of things happen, and so I'm right back there feeling that loss and grieving that loss like it's fresh."

In hopes of recovering her priceless memories, she took to social media saying "I am reaching out in hopes that someone can help bring her back home to me so we can be together again! If you know of where I can find her please, please, please reach out to me, no questions asked."

Reeves says that if they believe they have located the stolen safe to contact the Winnipeg Police Service. You can also reach out to Reeves via her Facebook page.

Please join us in praying for the Reeves family as they go through this ordeal; that they would experience the love and peace of Jesus, and that they would have their items returned to them.
