"GOOOAAAL!"

That's what I along with the other fans at the Canada Life Centre heard four times on Oct. 24 as the Jets defeated the St. Louis Blues, 4-2. This was also my first NHL game, so seeing a win made it extra special.

Getting to go with my friend Phoebe, who went with my sister to her first Jets game a few years back, was also fun.

Being new to Winnipeg, I have never lived in an NHL market. Toronto was close, but still over an hour away. The fact that it's within the same city made it a no-brainer that I had to go. One-month after moving to a new province, going to a game has officially happened.

I've been going to hockey games since I was young. I would go with my dad and sister in Barrie, Ontario. Barrie also happens to be where Mark Scheifele played his junior hockey before getting drafted by the Jets in 2011 in the first round. Seems that his move from Barrie to Winnipeg has worked out well, so I might as well give it a shot too, just without the playing hockey part, I'll stick to watching.

Now, I can cross going to a Jets game off my bucket list, but still have to try a Jets dog. Trying one will be the mission at game number 2.

I also have to have a Slurpee in freezing weather, that just seems like the Winnipeg thing to do.
