An officer in Nashville, Tennesse, says that he wouldn't have survived a Christmas Day explosion if it wasn't for listening to the voice of God.

"I literally heard God tell me to turn around"

Yahoo News reports that Metropolitan Nashville Police Officers James Wells and Amanda Topping were almost done their shift when the responded to a call for backup by a fellow officer at a possible shooting. When they arrived on the scene they could hear audio from an RV that told them to evacuate and that a bomb was inside.

Wells had gone inside a building to help evacuate it while Topping remained with their car to monitor the street. As Wells came outside he decided last minute to change his course and head toward Topping.

"This might not be politically correct, but this is my truth," Wells said Sunday at a press conference. "I literally heard God tell me to turn around and go check on Topping, who was by herself down on Broadway."

Moments later a bomb inside the RV detonated, causing Wells to lose his footing. Topping described seeing "the biggest flames of my life."

"I'm not going to shy away from that, because that's what saved my life," Wells said. "That's what got me to see my kids and my wife on Christmas. And 'good to see you' has a completely different meaning for me now."

Authorities say that Anthony Quinn Warner, 63, of Antioch, TN, was responsible for the explosion. Warner was killed in the blast, but there were no other injuries.
