The leader of the federal NDP will be making his first stop in Manitoba on Thursday.

Jagmeet Singh will make two different stops in Winnipeg.

He'll first make an appearance at 9:30 a.m. at Sinclair Park in the Winnipeg North riding to make a housing announcement.

The riding was a long-held NDP seat until Liberal member Kevin Lamoureux won it in 2010, defeating Judy Wasylycia-Leis. Lamoureux has been representing the riding ever since, and the NDP appears to be pushing hard to take it back. Melissa Chung-Mowat is the NDP candidate in the area, and Anas Kassem is running for the Conservative Party of Canada.

Singh will later be at The Forks with current NDP MPs Daniel Blaikie and Leah Gazan as well as Indigenous leaders.
