Earlier: Manitoba Hydro says there are more than 9,000 Manitobans currently without power after last night's storms.

About 83 outages are noted in the province just before 11 a.m. Sunday.

Since last night, stretches of Bishop Grandin Boulevard from Dakota Street to Lakewood Boulevard in the St. Vital area have not had power, leaving dark stretches of roads during the storm. St. Vital residents between Dakota Street and St. Annes Road stretching from Bishop Grandin Boulevard to Shorehill Drive are still waiting for power to be restored.

UPDATE: heavy lightning through the night has affected our ability to work safely on restorations. New estimate for restoration for this outage is 12:30 p.m. today.

Residents in the Niakwa area along Fermor Avenue, from St. Annes Road to Archibald Street are also without power Sunday morning, along with about 1,400 customers in the Charleswood area.

Just before 10:30 a.m., Manitoba Hydro tweeted their crews are working "around the clock" to restore power following last night's storm.

Winnipeg police say Northbound St. Anne's Road between Southglen Boulevard and Nova Vista Drive is temporarily closed to allow Manitoba Hydro workers to complete repairs.

The tweet, which was posted around midnight Sunday, estimated the closure would last about eight hours. Manitoba Hydro says they are now hoping to see the outages repaired by 12:30 p.m.

Residents are asked to avoid the area.
