A 19-year-old artist from Edmonton might be new to the music game, but he's collaborating with Neon Feather on his latest single 'Right Here.'

Quincy Telus is a student-athlete at the University of Alberta in Edmonton. He also writes and releases music.

"I had just moved away from home and I'm a very shy person. I was living in residence and feeling really alone, wondering if I should have just stayed in Regina. The lyrics came all at one time and those were the words I needed to hear God speak to me," says Telus on where the inspiration came for his latest single.

His fourth and latest single is 'Right Here', which was released on April 30, 2021.

"I just want to create a space for listeners to know that God is there and that He's not going anywhere, no matter what you're facing."

Telus reached out to Neon Feather for collaboration on this single after he first wrote it.

"I listen to a lot of his music. I had written most the lyrics to the song and sent him an email asking if he would want to work on the project with me."

Neon Feather, AKA Ben Thompson, is a skilled producer/programmer, that does remixes for many different Christian artists including Jordan Feliz and TobyMac.

"I sent the roughest demo, but he listened to it and really liked it. He agreed that he'd want to work with me on it."

Telus assumed he wouldn't hear back from Thompson or at least hear a 'no', so when Thompson said he'd work with Telus, he was elated.

"It wasn't quite the process that I thought it would be just because we're living in very different places."

Neon Feather is from North Carolina so the collaboration happened electronically. In the end, after working together for many months, Telus is proud of the final product.

"I'm a Christian and an artist, and I want to be known as an artist who is also a Christian. More than anything I want to be able to tell my stories from my perspective. Because my faith is so ingrained in who I am, there's no way for me to separate that from the music I write."
