Assiniboine Park Conservancy is now introducing Wellness Wednesday and Movies in the Park as part of its Summer Entertainment Series.
The annual event has various free activities including music at the Lyric Theatre, concerts in the garden, and new this year is Wellness Wednesday activities.
"Music in the Park at the Lyric Theatre has always been a tradition for a long time, so that continues every summer," says Sara Wollowich Brown, Communications Coordinator at Assiniboine Park Conservancy. "This year we decided to do the Performance Garden Concert at the gardens at the Leaf. Those opened up last year and we're really happy to be able to host live music in the gardens this year. Wellness Wednesdays are also new this year."
"Over these past few years, especially when we are all kind of stuck inside and couldn't really do a lot, we realized how important these green spaces are and we realized how important it is to spend time outside and in nature and how good that is for our health and our well-being. So, we wanted to get into that and invite people to take part in these different physical and mental activities in the beauty of the park, because it really does just relax you and make you feel so at peace when you're outside in the sunshine and surrounded by trees."
All of the events offered during the Summer Entertainment Series are free.
"You can come and enjoy a movie, bring your chair, and your blanket, and grab some snacks. It's a wonderful way to spend time with family and friends and also be outside when we only have a few months of this beautiful weather."
