A fire in a North End building has Winnipeg fire crews busy Friday morning.
The fire broke out shortly after 4 a.m. in a vacant two-storey home on Selkirk Avenue, just west of Arlington Street.

At the scene, crews found a well-involved fire with heavy smoke and flames coming from the house. Firefighters launched a defensive fire attack as it was unsafe to enter the structure. Crews are currently using an aerial ladder truck to apply water on the fire while also protecting neighbouring homes from fire spread.

Both neighbouring homes have been evacuated, and at this time, no injuries have been reported.

Selkirk Avenue is currently closed between Arlington Street and Sinclair Street and will remain closed for much of the day.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

No damage estimates are available at this time. The house is expected to be a complete loss.
