Russell RCMP asks for help securing a suspect after a late-night home invasion results in an assault at an apartment complex.

On December 22, 2019, around 1:30 am, officers, helped a 32-year-old female victim who required <medical attention. According to the victim, three males entered her apartment and violently assaulted her while she slept. She was transported to a hospital in Winnipeg. She has since been released and recovering.

Officers arrested one suspect close to the scene carrying a stolen item from the apartment. It was a 40-year-old, from Bird Tail First Nation. He has been charged with Aggravated Assault, Robbery & Breaking and Entering. 

Police later arrested and charged a 30-year-old from Waywayseecappo First Nation for the same crimes. Both have been remanded in custody.

A warrant of arrest has been issued for the third suspect. Christopher Leonard Benn, 32-years-of age from Waywayseecappo First Nation. He is believed to be in Winnipeg.
