The province has hit a new milestone in the COVID-19 pandemic.

After an unsteady fall and slow recovery, there are 30,005 COVID-19 recoveries in Manitoba. There are currently 1,143 active cases of the virus. Winnipeg's ive-day COVID-19 test positivity rate is 2.6 per cent, a new low for 2021, and Manitoba's is 3.2 per cent.

A woman in her 20s from Winnipeg has died from the virus, as well as a woman in her 90s from Park Manor Care Home. The total number of deaths in people with COVID-19 is 903.

There are 51 new cases of the virus in Manitoba including:

  • 26 cases in the Northern health region
  • 22 cases in the Winnipeg health region
  • three cases in the Southern Health-Santé Sud health region

There are no new cases in Prairie Mountain Health or Interlake-Eastern.

The province says there is a trend of concerning case numbers in Mathias Colomb Cree Nation (Pukatwagan).

"The chief and council have directed that public gatherings are not permitted and community residents are required to stay at home as of today at midnight. People should only leave their residence to seek testing or medical care, or to send one person from a household for essential supplies. People who work in essential services are able to leave their residence for work," the province says in a statement.

In the hospital there are 62 people in hospital with active COVID-19, and 119 people in hospital with COVID-19 who are no longer infectious needing care, totalling 181 hospitalizations.

The province says nine people in intensive care units have active COVID-19, and 15 people with COVID-19 who are no longer infectious require critical care, for a total of 24 ICU patients.
