OVERCOMER, the latest film from the Kendrick brothers will release in Canadian theatres this Friday, August 23.

Life changes overnight for John Harrison, when the largest manufacturing plant in town suddenly shuts down and hundreds of families leave town. John questions how he and his family will face an uncertain future. After reluctantly agreeing to coach cross-country, John and his wife, Amy, meet an aspiring athlete who pushes her limits on a journey toward discovery. Inspired by the words and prayers of a new-found friend, John becomes the least likely coach helping the least likely runner attempt the impossible in the biggest race of the year. OVERCOMER challenges viewers with the questions, “Who is God?”, “Who Am I?” and “What do I allow to define me?” The film is a discovery of who gets to determine our identity and what we need to overcome in order to embrace the life God has for us.

True to the Kendrick brothers’ brand of inspirational films, OVERCOMER follows the Kendricks’ previous features FACING THE GIANTS, FIREPROOF, COURAGEOUS, and the #1 box-office hit, WAR ROOM, eliciting high praise from several film partners.

It features Priscilla Shirer (WAR ROOM, I CAN ONLY IMAGINE), who is well known for her role in War Room. Before acting though, Priscilla was a well known author and speaker, involved heavily in ministry.

For the first week of release (August 23-29), 40 theatres have been confirmed to show OVERCOMER, 21 of which will open the film on Thursday August 22, the night before official release.  The strength of opening weekend attendance will determine how long the film stays in these theatres and whether more theatres will open the film into week two and beyond.
