In the early hours of Tuesday morning, Grand Rapids RCMP executed a warrant to search a home on River Road in Grand Rapids. Officers received information that a 42-year-old man who was wanted on nine Canada-wide warrants was hiding at a Grand Rapids, River Road residence.

RCMP along with the Police Dog Services and the Emergency Response Team arrived on the scene where the suspect fled to the river out the back door before jumping in the water. Police Service Dog Phlex and his handler were able to get the man back to shore where he was arrested.

The suspect was taken to hospital for minor injuries. 

Along with his warrants, he has also been charged with resisting arrest and two counts of failing to comply. He remains in custody.
