While responding to a dispute in the Robertson area, officers found a pipe-bomb in the basement.

On Thursday afternoon, people at a single-family home in the 800 block of Polson Avenue entered into a dispute. At 1:30 p.m., officers arrived at the home and spoke with concerned adults at the residents. While speaking with a 27-year-old resident, the resident told officers he had numerous firearms in the basement. 

Next, the Winnipeg Police Bomb Unit and the Clandestine Lab Team joined officers at the residence. Investigators entered the basement, finding 17 firearms with some loaded and thousands of rounds of firearms.

Continuing to investigate, officers found more dangerous items in the home. A pipe-bomb, a quantity of methamphetamine, and some equipment and chemicals with the purpose of producing methamphetamine were found. The Winnipeg Polci eService says they confiscated the materials.

The 27-year-old is being charged with:

  • Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
  • Unlawful Possession of Explosives
  • Careless Storage of a Firearm
  • Produce a Scheduled Substance (Methamphetamine)

 
Police say he was detained in custody.
