The Winnipeg Police Service (WPS) is expressing their gratitude to the public after a serious accident earlier this week.

At approximately 6:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 13, the WPS responded to a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Fermor and St. Anne's in Winnipeg. The intersection was closed for over 10 hours that day as police investigated what caused a pickup truck to ram a taxicab.

The WPS is now extending their thanks to the public. "The Winnipeg Police Traffic Division extends their thanks to the many citizens who reached out and provided assistance which was invaluable to the investigation," the WPS said in a release.

A female passenger from the taxi was taken to hospital in critical condition. The male driver of the truck was taken to hospital in stable condition. Two other occupants of the taxi were treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
