Among the saddening news of an adult male passing away from an altercation at the Millennium Library, charges have been laid out for three youth suspects.

The incident occurred at 4:40 p.m. on December 11 at the Millennium Library located at 251 Donald Street.

Members of the Homicide Unit have now identified the victim as 28-year-old Tyree Cayer of Winnipeg. 

Investigators learned the suspects and the victim became involved in a verbal dispute that escalated with the suspects physically assaulting the victim. During the assault, the victim was stabbed by one of the suspects resulting in serious injury. 

Emergency services provided medical care to the victim; however, he succumbed to his injuries. All suspects fled on foot before police arrived.

Three youths have been identified as the suspects and they were arrested without incident. They remain in police custody.

A 15-year-old male youth and a 16-year-old male, both from Winnipeg, are facing a charge of Manslaughter.

Meanwhile, a 14-year-old youth from Winnipeg is facing a charge of Second Degree Murder.

The Homicide Unit is continuing the investigation and anticipates further arrest(s).

The Millennium Library will remain closed for this investigation until Monday, December 19.
