A man has been arrested in Winnipeg after police allege he stabbed a stranger on the street and chased others while threatening them with a knife.

Police say they got a report early Friday evening about a man who was threatening to stab people, and not long after, officers found a 41-year-old man with an upper-body stab wound.

They say officers provided emergency medical care using a chest seal, and the man was transported to hospital in unstable condition and later upgraded to stable.

Investigators learned that right before the stabbing, the suspect allegedly threw an object at a Winnipeg Transit bus, causing approximately $500 damage.

Through their investigation, officers learned the suspect allegedly threatened and chased multiple people in the area while brandishing a sharp-edged weapon.

Trevor Mark Lesko, 24, of Winnipeg, was arrested after a brief pursuit and faces charges including assault with a weapon, uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm and failing to comply with release conditions.
