Police are investigating the death of a man who was discovered with serious injuries by firefighters who responded to a fire alarm on Friday evening.

The Winnipeg Police Service says that officers were called around 5:30 p.m. to the 500 block of Burnell Street for the report of an injured male. Members of the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service found the man and called police.
 
The WPS says in a release that officers from the Central District attended and located an adult male suffering from upper-body injuries within the residence.

The victim was transported to hospital in critical condition; however, he succumbed to his injuries.
 
The investigation is continuing by the Homicide Unit. No suspects have been arrested.
