A man is in stable condition after bystanders came to his rescue following a violent robbery.

On Friday night around 10 p.m., a man in his 30s walking in the area of Ellice Avenue and Young Street was assaulted, stabbed, and robbed. The victim escaped the group, making his way to the intersection before collapsing in front of bystanders. 

The group began performing first aid with the Winnipeg Police Service's AIR1 helicopter flying overhead. Officers on the ground arrived, attempting to look for the fleeing suspects but were unsuccessful. 

The victim was taken to the hospital in unstable condition and is now in stable condition.
