A Winnipeg man is in police custody after police say he kidnapped a teenager who was walking along Portage Ave. and assaulted her over the course of several hours.
The Winnipeg Police Service says that the abduction occurred on September 24 while the teenage girl was walking in the 3000 block of Portage. Police allege the man abducted the girl at knifepoint.
He then allegedly drove her to an undisclosed location where she was sexually assaulted repeatedly over several hours.
The survivor eventually fled and used a passerby’s cellular phone to call police.
Members of the Sex Crimes Unit assumed the investigation, and as a result, a male suspect was identified.
Police have arrested a 40-year-old man from Winnipeg.
He is facing a total of 12 charges, including three counts of sexual assault with a weapon, kidnapping, administering a noxious substance with intent to endanger life or cause harm, and failure to comply with a probation order.
