Two Winnipeggers are facing drug trafficking charges following a months-long Guns & Gangs Unit investigation.

In October, the Winnipeg Police Service's Guns & Gangs Unit began investigating possible cocaine trafficking in the city. Several months later, the unit received a Controlled Drug and Substances search warrant.

On Tuesday, officers with the Guns & Gangs Unit, along with the Tactical Support Team joined forces, executing the warrant in the 100 block of Sage Creek.

When they arrived, officers found 20 ounces of cocaine, an estimated street value of $40,000, $10,000 in cash, and drug packaging materials. They additionally sized personal identification documents and cell phones.

A 31-year-old man and a 33-year-old woman are being charged with Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking –Cocaine and Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000.

The man is currently in custody. The woman is released by police and has an Appearance Notice.
