Police in Winnipeg are warning residents after a large quantity of a dangerous drug was stolen from a local business.

The Winnipeg Police Service says that they were called to a robbery in the 500 block of Selkirk Avenue just before 3 p.m. on Monday, Sep. 13.

The WPS says that a "significant quantity of Methadone was stolen" in the robbery. The drug was in a one-litre bottle.

"The amount of Methadone poses a risk to the community in potential overdose," the WPS says in a release.
