For the first time in months, there are no COVID-19 deaths being reported in the daily update.

Tuesday's COVID-19 update is showing no COVID-19 deaths, a first for 2021. 

Close to 30,000 Manitobans have recovered from the virus, totalling 29,453 recoveries. There are 1,212 active cases and there have been a total of 886 deaths. Dues to a data error, eight COVID-19 cases identified previously are being removed from the total, adding 68 to the total number of cases.

New COVID-19 cases include:

• seven cases in Interlake-Eastern health region;
• 21 cases in the Northern health region; 
• one case in the Prairie Mountain Health region; 
• zero cases in the Southern Health–Santé Sud health region; and 
• 47 cases in the Winnipeg health region.

There are five confirmed B.1.1.7 variant of concern cases.

Manitoba's five-day COVID-19 test positivity rate is five per cent, and 4.3 per cent in Winnipeg.

The province says there was a possible expose on a flight with Perimeter Airlines flight JV639 from Garden Hill to St. Theresa’s Point to Winnipeg, between 9:30 to 11 a.m. on Wednesday. Those who were potentially exposed are being asked to call Health Links-Info Santé at 204-788-8200 or (toll-free) 1-888-315-9257 to be screened to see if a test is required.

Outbreaks at River East Personal Care Home and Deer Lodge Centre, and the dialysis unit at St. Anthony’s General Hospital in The Pas are being declared over.

St. Boniface Hospital unit A5 and Poseidon Care Centre are being added to the list of COVID-19 outbreaks, moving to Red on the Pandemic System Response Plan.
