Officials are sharing more information regarding possible COVID-19 exposures ranging from sharing information out of "an abundance of caution" to designating locations as Critical (red) on the #RestartMB Pandemic Response System.

Seventeen new cases of COVID-19 are being identified in Manitoba with 13 of those from Winnipeg.

Along with the new cases, several locations are being identified by the province as locations of COVID-19 cases.

At St. Aidan’s Christian School, 400 Hargrave Street, the province says there was a case of COVID in the school on September 10 and 11. The province says that additional cleaning is being done at the school.

"The individual was asymptomatic and followed all public health measures that were put in place at the school. The public health investigation indicates the infection was not acquired at school. The school community has been notified. Additional cleaning of high-touch areas is being undertaken out of an abundance of caution," the province says in a statement.

They say close contacts have been identified and are being advised to self-isolate. Due to the limited number of contacts, the school is not being elevated on the Pandemic Response System.

Also on September 10 in Winnipeg, at Actionmarguerite at 185 Rue Despins, a health care worker with the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority care home attended the location. Moving the facility to Critical (red) on the #RestartMB Pandemic Response System, Actionmarguerite is "acting out of an abundance of caution" by executing outbreak protocols and put additional measures in place to further reduce the risk to residents and staff, and are restricting visitation.  Families and staff have been notified and the province is investigating. The risk at this location is considered low by the province.

Additionally, a previously identified case of COVID-19 in the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority is being linked to the Health and Transition Services unit at St. Amant’s 440 River Road location. The province says the risk of transmission is low but that they have contacted families, staff, and close contacts. The province says the facility has initiated outbreak protocols in an abundance of caution. St. Amant is now being labelled as Critical (Red) on the #RestartMB Pandemic Response System.

In Steinbach at Bethesda Place, a health care worker connected to the outbreak has contracted the virus. There are 14 cases related to facility with eight staff members and six residents infected. The province says case investigations continue and if a public health risk is identified, the public will be notified.

Across Manitoba. the current five-day COVID-19 test positivity rate is 1.4 per cent. The number of COVID-19 cases in Manitoba is now at 1,466.

Along with the 17 cases in Winnipeg, one case is in the Interlake-Eastern health region, one case in Prairie Mountain Health region, and two cases are in the Southern Health-Santé Sud health region.

There are 269 active cases and 1,181 recoveries. Twelve people are in the hospital, with three of those in intensive care. The number of COVID-19 deaths remains at 16.
