Authorities say they have a teen in custody in relation to the homicide of a 36-year-old woman.

First reported missing on July 10, Tamara Benoit was last seen on May 23 in the  Portage la Prairie and Long Plain First Nation area. Finding her body months later, Manitoba First Nation Police Service located her remains on September 3.

Two 36-year-old suspects were charged with homicide, and a 15-year-old was arrested but not charged. RCMP Manitoba is sharing that the 15-year-old, now 16, is being charged with Second Degree Murder.

"Tamara was a mother, a sister, a daughter, a friend. She was in the midst of researching her family history and learning more about her Métis background and culture. Her life was cut tragically short," RCMP Manitoba said at the time of the first arrests.

The teen is the third to be arrested.

The 16-year-old is in custody. RCMP is continuing their investigation.
