Police say two men are receiving medical treatment after being seriously assaulted.

A 25-year-old suspect from Berens River First Nation is facing two charges of Aggravated Assault and Fail to Comply after two Sunday night incidents. 

RCMP officers in Berens River were patrolling in the area at approximately 9:40 p.m. when they noticed a man walking on the road, covered in blood.

The officers were told by the man that he was assaulted. The 32-year-old victim was then transported to the nursing station.

Next, the officers went to the residence where the assault occurred. Knocked at the door, they heard no answer. They peered into the window of the home, finding a man lying on the ground in a pool of blood. On top of the victim was another man.

Officers immediately kicked down the door, arresting the 25-year-old suspect who was on top of the 29-year-old victim.

Both victims require additional care and have been flown out of their community to receive it.

RCMP in Berens River is investigating the two assaults.
