Two men from northern Manitoba are facing a string of charges after police allege they were illegally manufacturing firearms and accessories.

In August, Canada Border Services Agency, contacted The Pas RCMP, after intercepting a firearm silencer being smuggled into Canada.

The RCMP investigation led to two search warrants being executed on September 1 and 2, at a residence on Reader Street in The Pas.

The two searches resulted in the seizure of evidence to indicate that the manufacturing of firearms and silencers was being conducted. RCMP officers seized guns as well as silencers, and two 3D printers which they allege were being used in the manufacturing. Police also seized other parts used in the manufacturing of firearms as well as ammunition.

More guns and ammunition seized

Two 49-year-old men from The Pas have been arrested and are facing a total of 15 charges.

RCMP say the manufacturing of firearms without the appropriate business licence is illegal. Importation and possession of firearm silencers, including those marketed as ‘solvent traps’, is illegal for the most part in Canada.
