The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) have made arrests following threats made on social media in Flin Flon.

Two female suspects, a 32-year-old from Flin Flon and a 25-year-old from Denare Beach, Saskatchewan, have been arrested by RCMP for 'Uttering Threats and Public Incitement of Hatred.' A third arrest is pending for the same charges.

The comments were made on a local Flin Flon Facebook page, where residents were venting about mischief to property happening in Flin Flon. RCMP had received numerous reports on July 29 of mischief to vehicles and property throughout the city.

The comments escalated into hateful and threatening language, attacking residents of the First Nations communities.

The RCMP says it "takes these matters very seriously."

Names of the suspects cannot be released until the charges have been sworn in before a court. The investigation continues.
